Mechanical Engineer – High Speed Automation
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join my prestigious engineering client, a global leader who specialise in the design and installation of high speed automated industrial plants into manufacturing and production facilities.
The company work with many of the leading brands across the globe, involved in food and beverage packaging. As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for working with both the client and Project Managers to help in providing direction and assistance to designers and drafters, whilst creating the layouts of new high speed manufacturing plants, predominately across Europe and the Middle East.
THE PACKAGE:
The company are offering a salary of circa £40k depending on experience, with a performance bonus. They are offering an additional international travel bonus of up to 20%, depending on how long, 25 days holidays, pension, travel recovery time, healthcare and many more fantastic benefits.
THE ROLE:
In this varied and interesting role, the Mechanical Engineer will assist Mechanical Project Engineers with design and engineering of facility mechanical systems.
- Detailed piping design including routing, sizing, materials selection and pipe supports
- Develop Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) for facility mechanical systems
- Design process ductwork systems
- Evaluation and/or specification of mechanical process systems support equipment
- Evaluation of process equipment general arrangements and utility requirements
- Drive development of drawing packages for fabrication, bid and installation
- Coordination of vendor provided conveyor systems with process equipment
- Coordinate material take-offs for purchase of all materials required for fabrication and installation of the provided pre-fabricated and unitised systems
- Coordinate with project Electrical Engineers to facilitate design of power distribution systems, power panels and control panels
- Coordinate with the fabrication facility on all pre-fabricated and unitised system design
- Utilise AutoCAD for systems design and development of drawing packages
- Perform calculations required to ensure safe, correct and economical designs
- Provide direction and assistance to Designers and Drafters
- Prepare Request for Quotations and solicit bids for equipment, systems and unitised components
- Travel domestically and internationally 10-30% per year and up to four (4) weeks duration
- Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations
- Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements
THE PERSON:
Ideally you will have previous experience of producing layouts of production machinery; conveyors etc. within manufacturing or specifically high speed automated industrial plants –
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
- Zero (0) to Three (3) years of experience in mechanical / project engineering is required
- AutoCAD and drafting experience beyond a basic level is preferred
- Experience developing drawings for fabrication of piping systems is preferred
- Experience with selection and specification of pumps, support equipment and/or HVAC equipment is preferred
- Knowledge of typical piping and piping component materials and appropriate applications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills; both oral and written is required
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required
- EIT registration is preferred
- Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows based programs are required
- Ability to work flexible hours and some weekend work may be required
- Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts
